KSM Air Conditioning Reliable MVHR solutions across Essex, North London, and Hertfordshire.
The mechanics of an MVHR system are elegantly simple but highly effective. The system consists of a central unit connected to a network of hidden ducting. This ductwork runs to every room in the building. Stale, moisture-laden air is extracted from wet rooms like kitchens, bathrooms, and en-suites. Simultaneously, fresh air is drawn in from the outside. The two airflows pass through a high-efficiency heat exchanger, with the warmth from the outgoing air being transferred to the incoming fresh air, which is then tempered and supplied to living areas and bedrooms.
The primary benefit of MVHR is the sheer volume of thermal energy it recovers – often up to 90% or more. In a standard house, traditional ventilation can account for a huge portion of heat loss; MVHR effectively recaptures that lost money. Beyond the financial savings, the benefits include:

Coastal towns like Clacton-on-Sea deal with high levels of atmospheric humidity and salt-laden air. When this humid external air enters a building and meets cooler surfaces, it condenses, leading to mould growth and a clammy feel. MVHR is particularly effective here because it constantly replaces high-humidity internal air with fresh, filtered air that has been tempered to the correct temperature. This continuous air exchange prevents the moisture build-up that thrives in seaside properties.
